Song writers and musicians deserve to be paid for their work, which we all share and enjoy...it's only fair

I think it is extremely important for the future of today’s recording musicians that Google pay royalties, however small, for each hit on YouTube with registered music. The music industry is changing, and this kind of thing is vital in order for the model to adapt to changes in and from new technologies. Please respect those who work hard to create the music!

If copyright music is to be aired on YouTube and like means, it is absolutely essential that the copyright owners benefit appropriately. It seems inconceivable that Google cannot afford to honour such a financial commitment.

Why should the songwriters/musicians get cut out by the middleman (Google)? We pour our heart, soul and money into making the music we believe in. It's broadcasting and should be treated as such. Just because it's not a hardcopy doesn't mean it should be free!

Viewing figures in the form of 'hits' on YouTube clearly show that it is one of the biggest Broadcasters in the World. Why then when virtually every other Broadcaster respects copyright and pays for the use of our creative endeavour and yet YouTube and its owners Google disrespect Copyright law and refuse to pay for the use of music.

It's great that the internet allows anyone the freedom of accessing and enjoying all kinds of music easily. However those of us who actually create the music constantly lose out when big companies pay labels to exploit that music. The creators get cut out of the deal when they are not paid royalties. This is entirely wrong. Everyone expects to be paid for their work and musicians are no different.

Whilst it may be possible for musicians to survive having to give away all their music for free, if we stop getting royalties as well, we stop making enough money to eat and pay rent. I think right now we give MORE than enough away. Royalties are our right, because we wrote this music that is being used and heard.

Please keep protecting the value of music - not to mention the time, energy, stress, emotion of the composers upon which each composition, performance and recording is built!

I support the Fair Play For Creators campaign to the full. Self / joint written / production music is worth far more value as it is without any other reductions.

In the early '90's I spent several years sequencing backing tracks for Irish Ballads. It was intended that these would be licensed by me as 'backing tracks' for performances or recordings. Although they are widely available across the internet, to date I have never received even 1 cent for this work.

YouTube takes the music fans hostage to blackmail the music creators who made YouTube billions of bucks. Disgusting! Composers & Songwriters of Europe and worldwide unite and fight against this con game and for our rights!

I believe that everybody’s work must be paid for by the ones who use that work, with no exception. Google, through YouTube, is using the work of music creators and must therefore pay for the rights (royalties) to whoever wrote, composed and played on each track.

Pay the songwriters and musicians for their work.

It is time that the writers and publisher start to act. Music is not for free - unless the musician wants it to be free. And the musician should be asked first before somebody else (mis)uses it.

The money men need to think again they need to show some humility and embrace the creatives that have helped and will continue to help their business creative people need to eat we are not worried about increasing profits year in year out we want to be able to pay the bills so as we can be free to create.
