I agree that something needs to be done about this unfair situation, it is the actual song writers that deserve something back, why should someone else make a profit out of the writers creativity? I hope that you can find a workable solution to the problem.

Having read all the comments I became more and more convinced that you and I are right. This is not a good relationship between artist and media. I support you totally.

Musicians have to survive just like anyone else.. a few decades down the line, if all music writers need to do other jobs as well just to make a living, music's not gonna get a whole lot better, is it ? We all need time to improve what we do... well I do anyway :(

Don't give in to youtube. Its all over if you do! There will be plenty more youtubes around in the future that will be more than willing to 'pay for what they play', the business model is just starting to be written. Hang on in there!

It's only fair. Songwriters work harder than most people would imagine and simply deserve a fair income for their trade.

I fully support the PRS for Music in this matter. It's hard enough to see much return for your creative endeavours as it is, without those fortunate enough to have talented people making great music for them, trying to make it almost impossible for those people to survive. Perhaps THEY'D be happy to take a pay cut...

It is high time that online music use is properly regulated and any music used is paid for. Technology is wonderful, but to undermine and erode the value copyright and short change artists and songwriters is more than damaging to the creative community.

Google's move was a fairly underhand way of trying to portray PRS for Music as the "bad guy" to the general public. But, as a huge percentage of their visitors go there in order to watch music videos, it's only right that songwriters should be paid royalties for this.

More than ever, the prospect for making a regular and life-sustaining income from music and musicianship has become very difficult for many of us. YouTube et al have been making significant monies from advertising, without passing on enough to all of us. Yes, they provide a valid service, but surely they are accountable to a sustainable degree?

I fully support PRS for Music taking on the WWW conglomerates to protect our rights. Their businesses would not do half as well without using music and we deserve to be remunerated for accordingly. Best of luck! x

It's simply a crime that Authors and Composers, should not get paid for their work. But i honestly think this is something created by the Big Boys in the Music business trying to shut out the smaller man, now up coming artists. Artists nowadays have don't no loyalty, cause when they were struggling, they were still are getting doors slammed in their faces, now with You Tube n Myspace all are equal, all have a world platform to publicize our skillz, and go and do live work which is still good for PRS for Music there mare many ways for authors/composers to make money, but 1st you have to get known. So I think it's gonna be Interesting where this is going.

This is an endless battle. More and more we face the issue of people who think that they are doing us a HUGE favour to use our music without payment or permission. That said, it has taken PRS for Music a LONG time to tackle this issue, which I first brought up about a year ago.

Your actions on behalf of all who create music is really appreciated. Does the public and more especially realise that when they don't pay they are effectively stealing from us! Would they like it if we came to their house en mass and took their stuff..I doubt it..!!

I give my full support to PRS for Music regarding Google's unfair removal of Music content from YouTube. It's a gross and unfair manipulation of the music business, and monopolising does not work in the long term. I say to Google, if you cut down on the writers royalties, which are small enough to begin with, eventually you will kill the industry as Music relies on its songwriters! Hope we can get some resolution soon.

Well, without musical content, what is YouTube? Any shop has to pay for the goods in their shop window, that's unless they make the goods themselves - and YouTube hasn't yet made a song by itself.

I am astounded daily by the arrogance of a company like Google, who, like so many corporations these days, seem to think that music copyright is some sort of archaic joke. This industry is having enough trouble staying on its feet without a major global organization like Google making things worse. This migration towards free has got to stop, and I fully support PRS For Music in its efforts to protect the rights and interests of songwriters and composers.
